Corinne Griswold
Corinne Griswold is a retired U.S. History teacher who began working with clay during college. Since joining Silica Studios in Palm Springs, she has concentrated on creating ceramic Coachella Valley animals. Each piece is unique and crafted individually, and reflects her fascination with local jack rabbits, roadrunners, and other desert wildlife.
The pieces are fired twice:
1) Bisque is fired to 1900°.
2) Glaze is fired to over 2300°.
Each firing takes 3 days.
Silica Studios is in its 18th year of business and has the only high-fire gas kiln in the valley. They are a members-only premiere ceramic studio. The glazes are made by the owners .
Corinne feels fortunate to be working in the studio with so many talented ceramicists who inspire, mentor and share their great wealth of experience and knowledge.
